Gavin Harris – Coast to Coast 200 Challenge
Thursday 22nd July 2021 9am
Having already ran a couple of 100 mile Ultramarathons (West Highland Way 2018 and the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc 2019), I was looking for the next challenge to push myself further. Due to the current Covid crisis most of these events have been cancelled, so I decided to set up my own challenge, and use it to raise money for a couple of great causes.
I am going to run solo* from Fort William on the west coast of Scotland to Fraserburgh on the east coast, covering precisely 200 miles. I will run the distance in one go, non-stop. Aiming to do it in the quickest time possible. I am going to follow the East Highland Way from Fort William to Aviemore, then the Speyside Way from Aviemore to Buckie, then run along the coast from Buckie to Fraserburgh, finishing at the Lighthouse.
*except for sections where I will be joined by my training buddy Ben (my black labrador)😁
I am raising funds for two charities, The Fire Fighters Charity, as I am a Wholetime Firefighter at Peterhead and a Retained Firefighter in my home town of Turriff, and Safe Haven Projects, a charity ran by a family friend that helps some of the poorest people in one of the poorest countries in the world. All funds raised will be divided equally between the charities.

This page is used to provide advance publicity for fund-raising events. If anybody’s got anything in the pipeline, please send details to me here.
Useful information will include description, time, address (if you include the postcode or detailed directions, I can include a handy GoogleMap), perhaps a photo or two of a previous similar event.
If you think it would be useful, you can have a fund-raising email address, such as email@example.com. Any email sent to this address will be automatically forwarded to your regular email address.
Also, if you would like to send in a report of a past event, total raised, photographs, etc, that would be very welcome.
